Celtic Step Patterns: Meditative Drawing from Ireland
Discover the ancient art of Celtic design in a two-hour workshop that blends creativity, history, and mindfulness. You’ll embark on a peaceful artistic journey, learning how to draw intricate Celtic step patterns, an ancient art form showcasing geometric beauty and rhythmic flow.
We’ll start by exploring the mesmerizing designs found in works like the Book of Kells, the Book of Durrow, and the Lindisfarne Gospels. These masterpieces have captivated generations with their rich symbolism and stunning patterns. We’ll uncover the geometric principles behind them and begin to understand how art can reflect both creativity and contemplation.
Guided by the meditative rhythm of Celtic design, you’ll then construct your own step pattern, using gentle repetition to cultivate focus and calm. This process isn’t just about drawing: it’s a quiet meditation that encourages you to slow down and get lost in an effortless flow state.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your art in a matted 12×12 inch frame: a tribute to the timeless beauty of Celtic tradition, ready to display in your home or share with loved ones.
Open to all skill levels, this workshop is perfect for those who want to relax, tap into their creativity, and explore the meditative world of Celtic art. No previous experience necessary, just a curiosity to learn and a desire to connect with the calming flow of artistic creation.
The workshop is led by Sudha McFadden, an artist who lived in Ireland for several years, studying the culture and art of the Celtic tradition. She’s excited to share this authentic experience with you, inviting you to explore the beauty, history, and serenity of Celtic art from a unique, deeply personal perspective.
