Sound Mind, Sound Body

Nada Yoga taps into brain entrainment through specific frequencies of sound, guiding you into a sustained meditative state, where you can experience the sense of union that is the heart of yoga.

Drawing on her classical training, Sudha creates an immersive sound bath experience filled with auditory surprises that keep you present, expertly weaving together droning sounds to create sensations of tension and release. This continuous sound immersion is always played at carefully calibrated volume levels and never with electrical amplification, to create powerful sound waves that bring about profound stress relief.

Each sound bath session is improvised, ensuring a fresh experience every time. Sudha responds in real time to the energy in the room and the vibrations put out by her world-class instruments, sourced from the best artisans and manufacturers in India, Germany, and more. You can come to as many sessions as you’d like. Incorporating regular sound baths into your yoga or meditation practice is a great way to gain clarity and experience centeredness that lasts far beyond the session itself.

  • Bring your yoga mat if you have one, and anything that you need to feel comfortable — blankets, pillows, bolsters, eye masks are all welcome. A limited amount of yoga mats will be available to borrow if you need one.

  • Not at all. First and foremost, you should be comfortable. Feel free to sit or lie however is comfortable for you. Chairs will be available for anyone who’d like.

  • By no means does meditation have to be your own personal goal — maybe you just want to see what a sound bath is like, or maybe you just want to relax! That’s perfectly fine. You’re also welcome to watch, though it might take away some of the “magic!”

The ultimate goal in nada yoga is to reach a meditative, still state, even if only for a moment. It is common for meditation to be fleeting at first, and this is to be expected. Sound baths are a great way to practice mental stillness, if that’s what you’re after.

  • Not at all. A “side effect” of any meditation is that spiritual insights might reveal themselves. Sound is a very important part of many religious and secular traditions, and all are welcome to join a sound bath without mention of any religion during our practice.

  • We welcome kids aged 10 and up, but you know your child best. It can be difficult (if not impossible) to lie absolutely still and silent for an hour, so if you think your children may have trouble with this, check out our events calendar to see when we are offering interactive family sound baths.

  • We do begin promptly on time. It can be disruptive to enter the sound bath once it has begun, so please do your best to respect the space and find a spot as quickly and as quietly as possible.

You are welcome to enter the space early and get comfortable while we are setting up.

  • A sound bath is a helpful tool for stress reduction, sleep, and mindfulness. While you may feel benefits for days after the event, it is not a substitute for professional medical treatment. If you have questions about whether a sound bath is right for you, please consult with your doctor.
